Better late than never: Here’s your update for March of 2016. This post is mostly for staff of Help, but if you’re a guest, feel free to read on.
The Use of the /pr Protection Mode
After some consideration, I have decided to allow moderators to use /pr. This should not be used at the slightest hint that a user is repeatedly unbanning themselves. You should stick to the idea that it’s mainly used for raids and used once in a while when a user is unbanning themselves and it’s causing major problems. If it becomes a problem, I’ll try to address it appropriately, which may include restricting its use again.
Banning From the Staff Pool
Please do not ban from the staff pool. If you need to ban someone, it should occur on the main pool.
The rule about the use of English was updated. Primarily, our policy for handling users who use non-English reverted to how it was previously.
It was brought to my attention that there are some inconsistencies with ban lengths. If someone is being highly disrespectful toward a religion, for example, you shouldn’t be banning for anything less than 24 hours. On the other hand, if someone implies something slightly disrespectful in a message they send, you shouldn’t be banning for 24 hours or even 12 hours. You could give a warning first or give a ban of a couple hours.
I hope to never go toward a system where I lay out specific ban lengths for specific violations. That’s too hard to remember and I would like to avoid a system like that as much as possible.
In the future, please put more consideration into chosen ban lengths. Should there continue to be problems, I’ll make sure to address them individually!
