THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A GLITCH BAN! If a user is banned, it’s for a valid reason. Either their current ID or IP was banned, and staff should not unban for this. Anybody with knowledge of the chat would agree that it’s impossible for xat’s ban system to glitch and add a random ID or IP to the list, ESPECIALLY one that ACTUALLY exists on xat, much less on THAT chat, much less ONLINE AT THE TIME.
Hopefully you can all understand not to unban for this as it’s just silly, thanks.
(Note offline bans or bans on another ID with same IP won’t appear on events so don’t unban just because events doesn’t log it!)
Any staff found not obeying this will be demoted immediately.
As you may be aware, help already has a rule that prohibits ID selling. This post is to clarify this rule. You may not sell IDs in your name/status. This includes having it as “Sell ID 123456 PC”, or “123456 pc” or “123456″. If it is obvious that you are selling it, you will be kicked and asked to change it. You can sell IDs in your xatspace, however you cannot have any signs in your name/status pointing to your xatspace, furthermore, you cannot have your xatspace as your homepage and have signs pointing to it either. You also cannot have IDs in your homepage. e.g “ID 123456″
I hope this clears things up, I tried to cover every situation possible. Any staff found breaking this rule will be demoted immediately.
Also as a reminder, this only counts towards selling IDs. Selling powers/xats/days may take place, but in private chat and it is allowed to be in your name/status, however you cannot sell content from any other website.
Rapid power should only be used if the reason is obvious, for example if a user is swearing and flaming, or in cases of raids.
For ALL other bans, such as minor swearing, smiley spamming, reasons MUST be used. An exception to this is when you kick a user with the link to another chat or boot them to it, you can ban with no reason after for one hour.
More often than not, people ask “why am I banned?”, and events doesn’t tell why because no one uses reasons. People should know why they get banned so that they can stop it in the future.
People have definitely been misusing rapid, as when your rapid is set to 24 hours and you see someone break a rule, you use rapid. For example if someone uses the s word and you ban them using rapid, that is not worth a 24 hour ban.
Don’t ban for long times for measly reasons.
If any staff is caught not obeying this, they will be demoted immediately.
The current changes include, but are not limited to:
A new person will be main owner each month.(Restricted to volunteers only)
The rules will be changed soon.
This is the new blog for xat help.
The main owner for this month is Leet (169777792) also known as Spell-checker.
There will be some minor changes to staff.
All volunteers will be made owner, however they will be in stealth at all times.
New: Please kick users with proper reasons. e.g Use “smiley spamming” instead of “ss”
New: Owners should discuss members that are going to be made with each other, if most agree then they may member that person. This is NOT to encourage any kind of voting system. Owners are to discuss with other owners only, and not the user.
I hope this clears up any questions you all may have. If you have any further questions, leave a comment and I may add it to the post if it’s frequently asked.
Some users of Help are using link shorteners that aren’t trusted sources. One in particular, which was developed by a user, was made specifically for Help. Please do not use these links, as there have been problems arising from them. Only popular ones, like tinyurl or bit.ly, should be used.
Unfortunately, not every chat obeys xat.com/terms.html. When this happens, they might get deleted. And if you have group powers assigned to the deleted group, that can be even more troublesome! But, there is a solution.
When you login, you will see a link like xat.com/xat123456. Take the NUMBERS from that link (in this case 123456), and put them at the end of this link:
http://xat.com/web_gear/chat/embed.php?id
So in this case, the link would be http://xat.com/web_gear/chat/embed.php?id=123456. You can then sign onto the chat (it will be members only and all staff will be removed so you can’t talk), and then unassign them that way.
If you are lost on how to get this to work, ask a moderator on xat.com/Help, giving them the link that looks like xat.com/123456 and explaining you want to unassign. They’ll be happy to help.
Goodluck!
